DOIMUKH, Jun 21:Police personnel are busy draining water from the Police Station instead of performing normal duty. They are compelled to do so to safeguard documents and other important records, said Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo about the pathetic plight of the Doimukh Police Station.

It is a matter of great concern that the Doimukh Police Station which is one of the oldest police station of the district constructed during 1981 is severely threatened not by anti social elements but the monsoon rain and sewage.

The police personnel posted at Doimukh are out of sorts owing to the Police Station premises affected by waterlogging for last many days but the administration seems to be in deep slumber.

The bachelor barrack, WT Station, Car parking and all offices are submerged by the rain water. Even the lockup which currently houses no under trail prisoner/inmates is inundated.

Doimukh is the nearest township of the state capital but no high ranking police and civil service officer of state have bothered to visit the Police Station and take stock of the prevailing situation.

Meanwhile Papum Pare District Superintendent of Police, Tumme Amo informed that it is a usual phenomenon and the situation was the same even last year.

‘The situation was inevitable as the drainage system of the township specially in market area might have been chocked due to which the rain water and drain water have submerged the police station time and again and it would continue until immediate action is not taken up,’ said the SP disclosing that they have already submitted proposal for construction of new Police Station.

It is really embarrassing to mention that locals were fishing last year at the same police station during a similar situation. Police personnel deputed at the station also vouched the sightings of few fingerlings early morning today.

Parliamentary Secretary (Home & Education) Pani Taram while talking to this scribe said that the government of Arunachal Pradesh have already approved for construction of new Police Station and the project have been sanctioned.

‘There shall be a first class Police Station and fund has been sanctioned. Due to change of work agency from Police Housing to RWD it was delayed, and the construction work will be started soon,’ Taram said.

However, he assured to take up the matter of drainage with local administration for urgent redressal.

The same condition was seen in and around PWD Doimukh Division while the road from Doimukh-Kola Camp was blocked early morning after a huge tree fell down which was later cleared by the PWD.
