NAHARLAGUN, Jun 14:   Naharlagun Police recently arrested two persons in connection with ATM tampering and looting of cash amounting to Rs 11.22 lakh from an ICICI Bank ATM, Naharlagun.

Acting on a tip-off, the team of policemen kept watch on the whole episode after getting a complaint from the concern bank official and caught one Bimal Tamuli and Jadumoni Borah a resident of Panigao, Lakhimpur, Assam.

During the interrogation accused Bimal Tamuli confessed to his involvement in the robbery. He had earlier worked as Cash Custodian under SIS security agencies for the said ICICI  bank and has sound knowledge about ATM Technology, but was fired from his job on February  last.    

 As per the confession, the Bank official failed to change the password and taking this advantage the accused carried out the crime along with is partner by using the same password of cash vault.

‘As soon as police received the information from Bank official regarding missing of cash on May 19 last, a team swung into action and followed the CCTV footage,’ informed Sub Inspector Thumgon Tali, the officer who along with his team busted the robbery case.

He further added that Police has registered a case 68/17 US 380/34 IPC and recovered Rs 5.50 lakh from their possession at the time of arrest.
