ITANAGAR, May 19:  Parliamentary Secretary, Trade & Commerce, Tesam Pongte today stressed on speeding up the border haat infrastructure construction at Pangsau Pass under Indo-Myanmar Border and initiate proposal for construction of trade facilitation infrastructures under Indo-Bhutan and Indo-China Sectors. He also stressed on immediate opening of trade between India and Myanmar through historic Stilwell road, which will give fillip to trade & economic development in the region.

He said this during an interaction with staffers of the Directorate Office today. On the occasion, Pongte also advised the officers and staff that though the Department is at present very small, but there is huge potential for expansion and development in future. Citing that no state or country can progress without trade and commerce activities, he stressed on inculcating work culture.

Earlier, Director, Trade & Commerce Tokong Pertin briefed on the activities undertaken by the Department and also, highlighted the grievances and constraints of the Department.
