ITANAGAR, May 14: The oxygen plant with a capacity of generating around 500 litres per minute set up at Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) Chimpu will be functional from Monday next informed Minister for Health, Alo Libang .
Libang, who visited the DCH today to review the detailed preparedness on various medical facilities and also the high flow medical oxygen plant, said that the state government is fully prepared to provide every medical facility to Covid patients.
Speaking to reporters, Libang said that the DCH is well equipped with sufficient numbers of beds and facilities like water, electricity and medical equipment. He assured that the department is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that patients don’t face any kind of problem as faced in the first wave of Covid-19.
He said that the state government is also making efforts to procure more Covid vaccine to vaccinate every individual from the state. However, there is still a lack of sufficient quantity of vaccines as per requirement, he said.
“The problem of insufficient vaccines is not only in our state but the same is also faced by many other states. Likewise, we also have less number of oxygen beds in the state as per the population ratio,” he said.
Libang said, to minimize all the medical shortfalls in the state, the Chief Minister Pema Khandu is in constant touch with the health department and is also accordingly working to solve the issues.
When questioned if there is any chance of extension of lockdown in the state, Libang said that the health department has suggested the state government for the extension of lockdown but there is no response yet.
The positive side of lockdown is that it provides time for the health department to check all the loopholes in medical facilities and also solve it accordingly. The lockdown also minimises the spread of Covid among the people, he added.
Among others, the minister was accompanied by Secretary Health P. Parthiban, ICR deputy commissioner Talo Potom and other health officials.
