NAHARLAGUN, Dec 18: One day state level orientation workshop of Deputy Director of School Education, District Coordinator, SSA and Deputy Director ICDS of all 20 districts on Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign was held at ZPC conference Hall at Yupia today. The aim of workshop was to orient all the district heads of education and ICDS on the importance including roles and responsibilities for the ensuing Measles Rubella Vaccination campaign during February 2018 in Arunachal Pradesh.

While welcoming all the district representatives, State Immunization Officer Dr D Padung, stressed on the meticulous information gathering and planning. The Director Family Welfare Dr K Lego exhorted all the participants on the basics of MRV Campaign and requested all to whole heartedly participate in the campaign by participating in planning and implementation.

The Director of Elementary Education Dr T Gao spoke on the individual role of all members of Education department and he assured 100% participation and involvement in the forthcoming MRV Campaign. The Director of Health Services Dr M Lego expressed his happiness to be a part of this campaign. He also asked all the participants to actively participate at the district and sub-district level activities.

The WCD Director Representative, N Ringu re-assured all the participants and the health department of their unconditional support and cooperation in the MRVC. The SSA Project Director O Gao summarily extended his full commitment and support to health department for achieving 100% target specially in the school. He also advised all the Education department officers to adhere to guidelines and provide assured inputs for preparation of a good microplan. The Mission Director NHM Dr Tapasya Raghav spoke in length about the mission 2020 by which year the state has to achieve elimination of measles and control Rubella. She stressed on timely data sharing to the health functionaries and active participation of all teachers including principals, DC SSA, BC SSA, nodal teachers and DDSE. She also reminded all to do proper mapping and line listing of target beneficiaries in the community so as to achieve 100% coverage.

Later, in the technical session, Dr T Taka spoke in length on the background of the elimination strategy and roles of school Principals, school nodal teachers and on the processed of identifying target beneficiaries in the schools. Dr D Padung, State Immunizati6on Officer spoke on the operational aspects of the campaign in the schools and setting up of an ideal session site. He also detailed the processes as to the implementation of this campaign in the community.

The DFW summed up the day’s proceedings and reiterated the importance of both the departments’ role for the success of the campaign. Anything below 95% achievement is not acceptable and encouraged all members to scale 100%.
