ITANAGAR, Jul 27: Claiming that the newly created Shi-Yomi district headquarters Tato is lagging behind in all aspects of basic developmental activities, the All Kochung Ao Welfare Society (AKAWS) and ABK-Youth Wing, Shi-Yomi district unit in a joint press conference have appealed Chief Minister Pema Khandu to look into the matter.
Addressing reporters at the Press Club today, AKAWS President Tago Kochung said that poor road condition, severe water crisis, lack of infrastructural development and precarious mobile connectivity have made life difficult for the people of Tato, Manigaon and Pidi Administrative Circles. He also alleged that the local MLA cum Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly P D Sona is depriving the remaining Administrative Circles of the district from development and only concentrating on Mechukha. People beyond Tato are living in a miserable condition because of lack of roads, electricity connectivity, proper drinking water, healthcare, as well as poor education system and banking facilities. “At least the basic needs such as education, medical and banking facilities need to be developed in Tato,” President, ABK Youth Wing Shi-Yomi district Lipor Ragyor said while placing the demand for an early completion of the 100 km 2-lane road project from Tato to Taliha that is being executed by the BRO.
The BRO has completed the pre-construction activities such as measurements and compensation related work of the project, but after construction of 15 km of the total stretch, works have remained halted since 2016, Ragyor added.
