TAWANG, Feb 24: A one-day training programme on electric vehicles, star labelling, energy conservation and building code for the Heads of Offices was conducted today here at the DC’s Conference Hall.
The training was intended to give an overview of the available solutions for minimising pollution which is increasing alarmingly due to rapid urbanisation with an arc on the way outs for replacing the ageing transport infrastructure. Kishan Khatri from Design 2occupancy Services briefed the officers on the benefits of electric vehicles and the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2013. Three states in Northeast, namely Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim have been approved by the Central government for installation of charging points of electric vehicles, he informed. Detailing the benefits of electric vehicles he said these are environment-friendly alternatives causing zero emission and more efficient in comparison to IC engine vehicles. Due to energy security and low fuel costs these vehicles will capture the market in future, he added.
