ITANAGAR, Mar 1: The department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs has conducted its 4th state level committee meeting on standardization and quality control system recently in collaboration with Bureau of Indian Standards.

The meeting was chaired by the principal secretary attended by Deputy Director, BIS, Kolkata, Regional Director & head, BIS, Guwahati ad senior government Officers from the state.

Presiding over the meeting, Principal Secretary directed all the state government officers to ensure purchases of quality standard products during government procurement.

He suggested the BIS (Bureau for Indian Standards) authorities to impart training to the government officials in regular time frame. He also requested the BIS to prepare a booklet on various quality control orders and arrange circulation of the same to concern departments.

He further stressed on conducting such programs especially for jewellers in the state in coordination with nodal department of Legal Metrology and consumer affairs.

Dy. Director General, BIS, Kolkata in his address briefed the house about the activities and services of the BIS and advocated for need for standardization and providing quality products to consumers.
