ITANAGAR, May 26: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) while condemning the recent incident of bullying of nurses of the state on social media by one Kaling Markio has taken suo motu cognizance of the case and sought a status report from the Superintendent of Police, Capital Complex.
The Commission has appealed to the police to take stern action against such people discouraging the frontline workers and outraging the modesty of women. Earlier, the Trained Nurses’ Association of India-Arunachal Pradesh (TNAI-AP) unit also lodged an FIR at Naharlagun Police Station. Naharlagun SDPO Dekio Gumja informed that police have received the complaint and accordingly a case has been registered. Police will soon track the alleged accused and take forward the case, he assured while informing that a case (No. 87/2021 Nlg PS u/s 509 of the IPC) has been registered yesterday. He has also appealed to the citizens to refrain from making such objectionable comments and use the social media platform for positive purposes.
APSCW has further stated that action must be taken against bullying of nurses on social media who are working 24x7 during the pandemic to save precious lives. It has also appealed to the general public to refrain from demoralising the nurses and frontline health workers working during the current difficult times.
