MIAO, Mar 26: On the 2nd day of his 4-day tour to Eastern Arunachal, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday reached Miao in Changlang district and reviewed the status of Namdapha National Park.
Briefing the Chief Minister about the animals housed in the park, the authorities apprised him regarding the problem of encroachment which is around 30 sq kms of the core area. The issue was also echoed by local legislator and cabinet minister Kamlung Mossang and a request was made by them seeking urgent protection measures. Khandu admitted that human encroachment inside the park is a big concern and assured to take immediate action, adding that the state government will provide full support in its upkeep and protection. Namdapha National Park is not only an important asset for the state but also for the nation due to its rich biodiversity and presence of four big cat species in an area which is about 1985 sq km.
In the last leg of this tour, the CM will be travelling on road to Vijoynagar, the first chief minister of the state to do so. It can be recalled that Khandu has announced to connect Vijoyanagar by a motorable road within March 31, 2022 linking Tali in Kra Daadi district. CMO
