PASIGHAT, Oct 6: “Tuberculosis (TB) can always be cured. A course of antibiotics will usually need to be taken only for 6 months”, stated Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong today while attending the TB Mukt Bharat awareness campaign today at the Yagrung Dere (Community Hall). A TB patient who has not taken proper and timely treatment could spread the disease to many, so to create awareness among the people regarding this dreaded disease, such sensitization meet in every villages was essential, he said.
Under the ongoing “Jan Andolan Against TB”, aiming to achieve India to be a TB-free nation by 2025 such awareness campaign should be continued and it was the collective responsibilities of every citizen to take active participation in controlling the menace of tuberculosis, added the MLA.
JDHS (BPGH) Dr. D. Raina spoke about length on signs and symptoms of TB and the modes of transmission of the disease. Informing that the government is committed to eliminating TB by 2025, Dr. Raina appealed to the public to spread maximum awareness about the causes of TB and its preventive measures.
DTO Dr. Taken Siram. Raina informed that Pasighat TB hospital and BPGH were having all facilities to control and cure TB patients with the newly-acquired diagnostic tools and medicines were provided free of cost.
The awareness campaign was organized at the Yagrung village community hall by the District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Taken Siram which was attended by the JDHS, ZPMs of Bosing I&II, HoDs, GBs and students of Yagrung Kastuva Gandhi School and villagers of Yagrung, Tekang and Sibut villages. DIPRO
