Yingkiong, May 15: The Commissioner (Health and PHED) cum Mentor Secretary of Upper Siang District, P. K Sain, visited Yingkiong today and attended a review meeting to assess the implementation status of various government schemes and ongoing infrastructure development projects in the district.
At the very outset, Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation highlighting the progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and State Sponsored Schemes (SSS) implemented in the district. He briefed the Mentor Secretary on schemes already completed and emphasized the need for clear timelines from Heads of Departments (HoDs) for pending projects.
During the interaction session, the HoDs apprised P.K. Sain of the financial and physical challenges faced by their respective departments, which have impacted work progress. In his address, Sain shared his emotional connection to Yingkiong, recalling his tenure as the DC of Upper Siang 20 years ago. He expressed his joy at witnessing the district's significant progress in sectors such as road connectivity, communication, electrification, and education. He noted that Yingkiong holds a special place in his heart, with fond memories attached to it.
Sain reviewed the ongoing schemes under CSS and SSS, emphasizing that the ultimate goal is for these initiatives to tangibly improve the lives of rural citizens. He advised the DC to organize a coordination meeting with all HoDs to assess the ground-level impact of these schemes. He also encouraged each department to compile a list of success stories, highlighting how their schemes have positively transformed local communities. "Without measurable achievements, the true objective of any scheme remains incomplete," he remarked.
Regarding the Vibrant Villages Programme, Jain underscored the importance of sincere and dedicated implementation, noting that progress under this initiative is closely monitored at the central level by the Union Home Minister.
In a strategic push to boost the local economy, he instructed officers from the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fisheries departments to engage with the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and the Indian Army to facilitate procurement of local produce. He emphasized that the true success of these schemes lies in enabling local farmers to earn sustainable livelihoods. DIPRO
