NAMSAI, Aug 14:  Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein inaugurated few more Govt infrastructures at Namsai today. In the presence of Parliamentary Secretary cum Local Legislator, Chau Zingnu Namchoom and Deputy Commissioner, R K Sharma Mein inaugurated two storied New Office Buildings of Deputy Director & Urban Programme Officer of the Urban Development & Housing Department of Namsai Division and the New Administrative Block cum Office Building of Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Namsai.

 Mein in his inaugural speech asked the Urban Development Department to come up with a proposal for the proper drainage system of Namsai Township. Citing that the Namsai Town being located in a low lying area is prone to stagnation of waters during rainy season, he said there is a need to plan for a proper drainage system for which a major scheme would be needed. He assured to provide fund for the survey & investigation for the same and also assured fund for the construction of the boundary wall for the new office building of DUDA.  He said that Namsai being a new district, it should be developed as a model district and urged to maintain it clean and green. He informed that fund for construction of CC Road for the township road has also been provided by the Govt and it should be implemented judiciously.

  He also said that Namsai is turning to be an educational hub and a favourite tourist spot and asked the Urban Development Department for digitalization of the Namsai district in collaboration with IT Department and to provide free Wi-Fi Services in Namsai town and tourist sites like Tengapani.

Citing priority of the State Govt to health & education besides connectivity and other sectors, Mein said that every effort is being made to improve the health delivery system in the districts too.

  He further said that from Rs 10 Crore allocated to every legislator under SIDF, three MLAs of Namsai Districts will contribute Rs 1 Crore each for infrastructure development of  Namsai District Hospital.

    Mein along with Zingnu Namchoom also released Larvivorous Fish to the newly constructed Fish Hatchery in the District Hospital, Namsai today. The Fish Hatchery which is said to be the second of its kind and the largest in the State was constructed with an amount of Rs 6 Lakh funded under MLA LAD Fund of the Deputy Chief Minister. The matured fish will be later released to the stagnant water bodies in the township area after 3-6 months as they will eat mosquito larvae and will help in controlling and eliminating Malaria.           

 Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Personnel & Administrative Training, Chau Zingnu Namchoom also emphasized on developing proper drainage system of the Namsai township and also said to put in all effort to uplift the Namsai District Hospital.

  Later in the evening, the duo also held a series of developmental meeting with the HoDs, officers of Spice Board of India, Farmer’s Producer Company, Education Departments including Principals & Head Masters of various schools and Members of Tai Singpho Council and All Tai Khamti Literary & Heritage Society in the conference hall of the District Secretariat, Namsai in which various issues from improvement of education, farmer’s welfare and upliftment and preservation & promotion of tribal literature & cultures were discussed.
