ITANAGAR, Feb 19: “The state government is serious about strengthening the power transmission and distribution system in Arunachal Pradesh.”
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said this today while reviewing the status of ‘Comprehensive Scheme for strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System in Arunachal Pradesh’ in a meeting attended by Adviser to Minister (Power) Balo Raja, Adviser to Minister (UD, Municipal Administration, Govt. Estates & Town Planning) Kaling Moyong, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and officials from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), the executing agency.
Assuring full support from the state government’s end to PGCIL, Mein said that strengthening of transmission and distribution infrastructure is vital for ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state. Urging the PGCIL officials to expedite the implementation of the assigned project ahead of the dateline issued by the Union Ministry of Power, he pressed for full coordination between the state’s Power Department and the PGCIL. The Chief Secretary informed that the infrastructure-related transmission line project will cover a distance of more than 4200 km of 132/33 KV line with 124 substations. While observing that implementation is not up to the mark, he called for serious improvement, reminding the PGCIL officials that the deadline fixed by the Union Power Ministry for 41 elements i.e. 21 substations and 20 transmission lines is March 31, 2021.
ED, Comprehensive Scheme for Transmission & Distribution of Arunachal Pradesh (PGCIL) B S Jha and CE, Transmission, Planning & Monitoring Zone, Power Department H R Bado presented the district-wise progress reports of the project through a PowerPoint Presentation. It was informed that the project with an original estimated cost of Rs 3199.45 crore aims to construct 24 new 132/33 KV substations, 70 new 33/11 KV substations along with augmentation of 10 132/33 KV substations and 19 33/11 KV substations. The entire project is expected to be completed by December 2021. Issues relating to forest clearance, land acquisition, compensation and other district-specific matters were discussed with the respective Deputy Commissioners through videoconferencing.
