NAHARLAGUN, Apr 10:

 

In an effort to make quality healthcare services available at the doorsteps, the state government on Monday has gifted the public three advanced medical equipment to be installed at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) Hospital, Naharlagun.

The equipment includes Babatron Cobalt Therapy machine, Samsung Digital Radiology (X-ray) Machine and Samsung Ultrasound (High end) Machine. 

The advanced equipment were inaugurated  by Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein in presence of Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Jomde Kena and Techi Kaso, Parliamentary Secretary for UD&H, Town Planning, Municipal Affairs and PWD here today at the premise of TRH.

 

Terming the occasion as historic, Mein noted that the equipment will greatly help the needy patients. DCM said that state is also equipped with the highest level of cancer treatment facilities accessible for public.

‘With the commissioning of the Tertiary Care Centre, now cancer patients need not to go outside incurring huge expenditures as the much needed equipment for treatment is now available in the state hospital premises,’ he added.

He also informed that government will soon release Rs 15 Crore for procurement and installation of CT Scan Machines at Naharlagun and Pasighat and to provide funds a tune of Rs 45 Crore for completion of the hospital infrastructure.

 

More to that Rs 25 Crores were also sanctioned to 5 zonal general hospitals at Bomdila, Tezu, Ziro, Aalo and Khonsa to purchase equipment and Rs 10 Crore for modernization of existing drug de-addiction centres at Pasighat, Tezu, Namsai, Changlang and Papum Pare Districts, Mein further disclosed.

 

Jomde Kena, Minister of Health & Family Welfare informed that the recruitment of faculty members for medical college would be done by the initial part of 2018 and the Medical College in the state would be started from the session 2018-19 with an initial capacity of 50 students at Naharlagun.

 

He also apprised the Deputy Chief Minister about the shortage of man power, nurses and fourth grade staff in the state hospital. In response to the request made by Kena, DCM assured to look into the matter and opined for rationale posting of doctors in every district hospital to fill the shortage of specialist doctors.

Local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for UD&H, TP, Techi Kaso said he is ready to provide land to the state government for establishment of more institutes of higher education and medical institutes like AIIMS in the state capital in future too. 

Sunil Debnath, Assistant Manager, Penacea Medical Technology Private Limited, Bangalore demonstrated on the operation and 360 auto treatment of the Babatron Cobalt Therapy Machine.

The team also visited the Male ward, Obstetrics & Gynae Section, Operation Theatre Section, Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), etc in the new hospital building.

Among others, Kaling Tayeng, Commisioner of Health & Family Welfare, Nitika Pawar, Special Secretary H&FW,  P N Thungon, MD, NHM etc were present on the occasion.
