ITANAGAR, Jun 9:Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein on Friday has called for fresh roadmap to strengthen tourism industry in Arunachal and urged upon all to tap the tourism potential of the State.

Mein emphasized that the tourism industry can become one of the major sources of revenue as well as employment generation platform and enunciated that Tourism is one of the competencies of the state as the state is endowed with vast cultural diversity because of which each tourist spot can be developed according to its unique qualities.

He was addressing the valedictory function of three-day Tourism Annual Conference on “Theme 2017: Tourist Friendly Arunachal” organized by the Department of Tourism, which concluded here at Directorate of Tourism.

Pointing out that the  agriculture and horticulture sectors of the State have also potential to be developed for which opportunities must be created, explored and harness, Mein also called upon the stakeholders to develop innovative idea and in the side-line, go for promoting the rich handloom and handicraft of every tribes to the tourist.

Parliamentary Secretary Tourism, P D Sona expressed hope that the outcome of the 3-day conference will come up beautifully in the state and give fillip to the tourism industry. He informed that his department through this conference wanted all the stakeholders get in and come together for framing the tourism policy and rules for the trade act and to discuss important issues related to the department.

 Secretary Tourism, Joram Beda highlighted on the three-day conference and informed that through this conference the department has tried to explore a number of key themes including sustainable tourism industry development, promotion of innovative energy initiatives and how to best ensure the conservation, preservation and protection of natural environment which remained a priority and on the most important formulation of annual action plan of the department.

 Earlier in the day, two technical sessions were also held wherein various delegates made their presentations on the diverse issues which were chaired by Parliamentary Secretary P D Sona.

 Among others, Director Tourism Karma Leki, DIOs, TIOs, members of Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association were present on the occasion.
