Meet on organic farming held
YINGKIONG, Aug 13:  A Kishan Ghosti on "organic farming" was held at Simong WRC field under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) on August 9 last.
Addressing the gathering, Agriculture Development Officer Ameng Nangkar, informed that organic farming shall be taken up on pilot project under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) during 2018-19 and Simong village has been selected as a cluster village. He also highlighted the importance of organic farming, methodology of organic certification & its prospect for uplifting the rural economy.
ADO, HQ, M Ete also advised the farmers to take advantage of the Government sponsored schemes and make Simong an organic village. He asked the participants to discourage rampant use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and spread message to every farmer on organic farming, its value and importance for the future generation.
 Tadum Libang, one of the progressive farmers, stressed that all WRC field of entire Simong village should be included under this programme and expressed hope that it shall emerge as an exemplary organic farming village in the district.
