ITANAGAR, Aug 22: Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission and Department of Rural Development conducted a programme on the convergence of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAYNRLM) in the state.
The programme was inaugurated by Rinchin Tashi, Secretary, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Department of Tirap, Changlang and Longding at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre here.
Speaking on the occasion, Tashi appreciated the hard work and dedication put in by ArSRLM officials at the block and state level and the pro-active response of Block Development officials who gathered for a novel initiative aimed at ensuring effective convergence of efforts between MGNREGA and DAYNRLM so that rural poor households are able to leverage the benefits from both programmes simultaneously.
Special Secretary (RD & PR) said that convergence is the need of the hour. He said that convergence between various development programmes needs to be understood at a wider scale and not limited to convergence between MGNREGA and DAY NRLM alone.
He also called for a change of mindset amongst officials and expressed the need for increased cooperation and coordination amongst all officials of all departments from the sub-block to the State level.
A session on DAY NRLM was delivered by Dr Rakesh Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer, ArSRLM while Sh. Jechonia Islary, State Mission Manager Livelihoods, ArSRLM gave a presentation on convergence mechanism between MGNREGA and DAY NRLM.
