MANIGONG, Dec 23:

        In order to provide better medical services to the poor away from the district headquarters, who cannot afford to go out for specialized consultation, a Free Medical cum Eye Screening camp was conducted by the Turbung Daleng Welfare Society (TDWS) in collaboration with RK Mission Hospital Itanagar of Indian Army (11 Bihar) at Manigong and Semasibo village on December 20-21 last.

        Inaugurating the two day medical camp, Head GB Dorjee Pullom at Manigong, informed that the said medical cum eye screening camp is the first such mega camp in entire Manigong and Pidi circles conducted by civil society. He stated that the people of the circles especially are being deprived of basic amenities in terms of healthcare and education. Patients here most times are deprived of even simple medical aid.

 

Pidi and Manigong circles are of strategic importance which share international border with China stretching more than 545 KM away from the capital Itanagar. But the same circle remain unconnected with proper road and amenities for health and education leaving the entire population to endure hardship.

TDWS chief advisor cum former retired director from Mechuka sub-division, Tayor Jempen, lamented that due to the present circumstances denizens of Manigong and Nemasibo have already migrated to towns such as Kaying, Aalo and Itanagar to avail the required facilities.

 

        While informing that populace of Nemasibo have no other sources of income other than  engaging themselves as GREF labourers and Army porters, former ASM Nebasibo Tagam Jempen exhorted the intellectuals and educated youths to carry forward the steps which has been initiated by chairman TDWS Anom Jempen and its executive members.

       

The camp was conducted in Manigong and Semasibo, under Mechuka Sub-Division, West Siang District with a team of medical super specialist Dr. Aishwarya P Singh (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon) and his team from RK Mission Hospital Itanagar, Indian Army (11 Bihar) Manigong Dr. Ankush Dhiman and Dr. Sudhir Ahirwar (Medicine) and Dr. Egam Bagra (Medicine) to cater to the basic medical needs of the local population, where in around 450 patients benefited from the medical camp.

        The TDWS also contributed blankets and few essential commodities to the needy villagers on the occasion.

 Disclosing that patients who registered during the camp would be given free medical treatment at RK Mission Hospital if they turn up for further treatment, Optometrist Nending Epi said, most of the patients of Manigong and Nemasibo are suffering from Refractive Error, Cataract, Pterygium and Dry eye syndrome which can be cured.
