NIRJULI, Mar 27: A team of corporators and officials of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) led by mayor Tame Phassang today visited a number of sites under Wards 19 and 20 where civic developmental works are currently under progress.
The team inspected the new sites for solid waste management in Karsingsa, visited the crematorium and burial ground in Nirjuli and the Government Secondary School, PTC Banderdewa. To get first-hand information of the progress of works, the team made a foot march to the sites. After a day-long survey Phassang informed that the crematorium will be made functional very soon and the burial ground will be properly demarcated with a boundary wall. While speaking about the Karsingsa dumping site used earlier, the mayor advised the officials that the land allotted to the IMC measuring 20,000 sq. meter be developed into a mechanical garage. He also instructed the IMC standing committee to make a proper assessment of the new site for the waste management plant and urged them to place the issue in the next business meeting. “We have been inspecting and visiting various places under IMC’s jurisdiction to get ground reports of various projects and sites to develop more infrastructures and other basic amenities for the denizens,” Phassang said while assuring that all funds will be used judiciously for development purposes.
Among others, Deputy Mayor Biri Bassang, IMC Commissioner C Chukhu accompanied the team.
