BOMDILA, May 19:A first of its kind mass Panchayat awareness cum interaction programme was organized at Bomdila today.

An initiative of the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop, the programme was attended by all the HoDs, ZPMs, ASMs, GPMs and administrative officers of West Kameng District.

The HoDs presented the schemes and works being undertaken by their respective departments. Clarifications were provided to the various queries raised by the members.

In her address, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on the need for further strengthening the Panchayat Raj institution in the state. While highlighting the fact that performance grant to the PRIs are directly linked to their performance vis-a-vis revenue generation. She underlined the importance of exploring all possible avenues of revenue generation at the Panchayat level. She also stressed on the need for timely and mandatory conduct of Gram Sabhas.

Clarification regarding issuance and renewal of job cards, PEMS launch, importance of opening bank accounts, organic production of agri-horti crops, construction of CC-drain and footsteps technicalities, Aadhar enrolment, making each GP open defecation free etc. were few issues amongst many that were highlighted.
