KANUBARI, Aug 4:  In the wake of repeated intrusions by Assam police into the territories of Arunachal Pradesh, a delegation of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and North East Students’ Organization (NESO) today visited Longkhojan village in Longding district and interacted with the villagers.
Speaking to the media, AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai  informed that both the student unions  are jointly visiting various boundary areas of the state to know the ground reality and problems faced by villagers. “As we all know that the state government has constituted a high-power committee to solve the vexed Assam-Arunachal boundary issue out of the court and AAPSU is also a member of the committee, the union is visiting all the boundary areas,” Dai informed. Besides boundary issues, villagers have also apprised the delegation about poor developmental issues like absence of police outpost, telephone network and road communication and AAPSU will definitely raise such points with the state government, the union’s GS added.
When asked about their stand on repeated intrusions by  Assam Police in Arunachal’s boundary, Dai condemned such acts by the Assam counterpart. “It may bring retaliation, however, AAPSU believes that everything can be resolved with round table talks. Moreover, the Chief Minister of Assam who always presses for ‘Northeast Spirit’ has failed to display such sentiment on the ground and their officials are being sent to other territories,” Dai stated.
Meanwhile, expressing resentment over the repeated instances of intrusion by Assam police officials at Longkhojan, Deputy Chief of Longkhojan Wanglih Wangsupa alleged that Assam police and their forest officials have made it a habit. “They come without information and destroy our standing crops many a time. We urge the state government to immediately resolve the boundary issue. This year in June, armed Assam police and forest officials intruded into Longkhojan village and damaged all standing crops, besides unnecessarily harassing the local people," he added.
President, Wancho Students Union (WSU) Pongngoi Joham alleged that those who are creating disturbance in Arunachal-Assam boundary areas are not indigenous Assamese people but Bangladeshis and other refugees. “Moreover, since the new chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came to power, the boundary areas are witnessing disturbance again, '' he added.
“The WSU appeals to the state government and Chief Minister Pema Khandu to immediately resolve the boundary issue as there are BJP governments at the Centre as well as in all Northeastern states,” the  WSU President said.
