TEZU, Jun 20:Two day stakeholder meet cum Fishery Development Program was held here at Amik Ringya hall, from June 19-20, organized by the Department of Fisheries, Lohit District.

  During the inaugural function, Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf, stressed that fish farming should be taken up by the fish farmers as the primary source of income. He further added that, Fish farming is a lucrative business and would help the farmers for increasing optimum production and maximizing income in small areas by using latest technology of fish farming. He also suggested the famers to form a ‘Farmers association’ for better growth of the fisheries sector as well as development of the fish farmers by availing different schemes provided by GoI and State Government.

Earlier DFDO, Lohit District, Tezu welcomed the house and briefed the gathering on various aspects of the training.

Tapan Datta, Fishery Officer, Tezu also advised the trainees to implement the knowledge earned from the training and utilize it in the field. He also urged the farmers to share their knowledge and experience with others. 20 fish farmers from different circles of the district participated in the program.
