ITANAGAR, Jul 31: With options running out, people in Yazali, Lower Subansiri took it upon themselves to address the issue of erratic electricity supply that has plagued the administrative sub-division for the past four months.
Electricity to Yazali took a hit in April when the Yazali-Kimin feeder line was damaged.
Residents today came together to clear forests in the area that were interfering with the electricity poles that are meant to serve as a temporary measure until full-scale repairs are done.
Earlier, residents had served a seven-day deadline for immediate arrangements for DG set at CHC, veterinary aid centre and government higher secondary school at Yazali till the power supply is restored.
While a temporary respite has been provided, sources said that the residents have not suspended their threat of the 24-hour shutdown of the Ranganadi hydropower project and NEEPCO’s powerhouse.
