The East Siang administration had arrested several leaders of Adi Baane Kebang Youth Wing, AdiSU and other organizations for blockading the road at Mirem-Bilat area through which the Group of Ministers were en route to Korang (Kora) for conducting public hearing on the Lower Siang District issue. Due to the road blockade, the government constituted committee had to divert its journey and reached Korang via Nari-Lipin etc.

President Aling Pinggam, General Secretary, Er. Toi Modi, Lower Siang issue Chairman, Kaling Eko and others were arrested on Friday at Ruksin vide Ruksin PS case No. 13/17 U/s 186/188/341/353 IPC but later let off on bail the same evening.

According to sources, the ABKYW leaders were detained by police based on an FIR lodged by OC, Ruksin who was on duty at Mirem village area during the visit of GoM on June 14 last. However, they were released on temporary bail after detention for few hours.  These organizations have been opposing the visit of GoM at Korang and making repeated appeals to the state government to follow the Dharmendra Sharma led High Power Committee recommendation and ABK’s boundary map proposal.

According to ABKYW spokesperson Jobomchang Mengu, an emergency meeting on Friday afternoon was held where it was decided to move unconditional withdrawal of FIR and clean chit to the arrested leaders.
