ITANAGAR, Jun 18: ICR Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom today while briefing the media persons on issues related to land allotment in the capital region has affirmed that various reforms have been initiated to streamline the system and allotment of cases that was temporarily suspended will now be taken up based on their genuineness.
Giving the details, the DC informed that separate committees for Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa have been formed for verification/survey of land allotments from private individuals. The committees would carry out verification/survey followed by scrutiny of applications and genuine cases will only be recommended for government approval. Being the Chairman of one of the committees, the DC informed that their chief objective would be to plug the lacunae in the system that would thereby lead to faster execution of work.
A total of 4601 applications have been pending till date, out of which 2535 are for Itanagar and 2066 for Naharlagun and as per official records, a total of 7262 individuals and 80 departments/organizations have been allotted land, the DC detailed, adding that a total of 1027 encroachment cases have also been listed.
While reiterating that protection of government lands would be the priority of the administration, the DC said that pending encroachment cases will be regularized as per the decision of the state government.To avoid overlapping and encroachment, all cases pertaining to fresh allotment would be geo-tagged from now onwards, the DC added.
