ITANAGAR, Jun 12: In a strongly-worded letter to all the Ministers of the state, Chief Minister Pema Khandu while being critical of his colleagues for the inordinate delay in release of payments and stipends to the entitled beneficiaries that has led to public anger, has sought an early report with explanation of the reasons in detail.
In his letter dated June 10, Khandu said: “even the basic and routine functions like departmental promotion committee meetings and normal committed expenditures like timely release of salaries of contractual employees, especially under the Central sector schemes, scholarship and stipends, funds for mandatory essential functions like waste management, etc. were not being carried out properly. As a result, such grievances are being flashed through social and local media.” “It is beyond my comprehension why such routine matters are NOT being dealt with and resolved timely. Why can’t we devise a system of time-bound approvals for such matters? Why can’t we fix responsibility for red tape, inaction and such utter lack of devotion towards routine functions of govt business transactions?” the CM minced no words in venting his anger. Urging his colleagues to personally look into the matter of all such cases across departments, the CM also asked them to devise a mechanism for timely resolution and fixing of responsibilities.
“We must end this tendency of ‘Reactive Administration’. I shall be expecting an early report on this,” Khandu concluded his letter with these words.
