ITANAGAR, Aug 9:Chief Minister Pema Khandu today chaired the first Governing Body meeting of the newly created Chief Minister’s Arogya Arunachal Society, which was earlier called as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Society, here this morning. It was attended by Health Minister Alo Libang, Health Commissioner and Governing Body members.

With the Chief Minister as the Chairman of the Governing Body, the Society would implement the ambitious Chief Minister’s Arogya Arunachal Yojna (CMAAY) that would facilitate cashless healthcare in empanelled hospitals on assurance mode.

Soft launch of the health assurance scheme, CMAAY, was earlier done in a simple ceremony on July 26. The scheme is scheduled to take off this August 15 and fully functional in another two months.

Khandu reviewed the status of the scheme and its preparedness. He asked the Governing Body members to go on a war footing for enrolment of people so that almost every family reaps the benefit of the benevolent scheme. He also urged the concerned authorities to finalize deals with reputed hospitals for empanelment.

The Chief Minister also stressed on setting up kiosks in districts so that people are made aware of the scheme and get themselves enrolled.

As per the guidelines, all APST citizens, government employees and those having resident certificates can avail the benefits after registration by producing relevant documents like APST certificate, Aadhaar card or resident certificate.

While directing the authorities to take the scheme on mission mode, Khandu said as soon as it takes off the practice of providing medical assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund will be completely stopped.

Various issues and requirements for enabling the Society to smoothly and successfully implement and run the scheme were discussed and approved like recruitment of manpower, appointment of CEO and Dy CEO etc.

“As we will be one of the first states to go ahead with the Ayushman Bharat scheme along with our own CMAAY, we will be keenly watched. We must not fail,” he asserted.

So far TRIHMS Naharlagun and Pasighat General Hospital are empanelled for the scheme while B Baruah Cancer Institute (Guwahati) and Narayana Hrudalay group of hospitals and many others are on the cards.
