NAHARLAGUN, Apr 24: Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Jomde Kena today advocated for affordable treatment for all. Addressing an awareness programme on Cancer organised by several NGOs, the Minister said that the state government will work together with NGOs so that affordable treatment can be provided to needy people.

The free cancer screening camp was organised by group of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) like Friends of Tribal Society (FTS), Marwari Yuva Manch (MYM), Atu Hillang Charitable Society (AHCS), Kombo Youth Capital Complex (KYCC) here today at a city based hotel.

Appreciating the role of NGOs in serving society, Kena further said that the department of health is also working hard under Chief Minister Pema Khandu with a motto of zero tolerance on health.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat, Alo Libang also lauded the effort of the NGOs. ‘Such  activities is  first of its kind in the state, Marwadi Yuva Manch in collaboration with other NGOs of state is doing humanitarian service by bringing the Cancer screening mobile vehicle in this  state. Cancer is a dreaded disease but can be prevented, moreover 50 percent of the cancer can be cured if we follow required medication,’ he added.

Our motto is to serve needy people of society and with the motive to confer free cancer test we have been moving around the NE region and catering awareness on cancer and its effect, informed Provincial President Marwadi Yuva Manch, Ritesh Khater.

 The screening mobile centre vehicle which cost more than three crore and sponsored by S R Rungta Group, Chaibasa, Jharkhand has X- ray machine, technically viable laboratory, mammography, cabin including doctors.

Among others, Senior Gynaecologist of Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat Dr. D Perme, FTS President Audil Toko, Proprietor Niba Hospital Dr Nirmali Taba, MYM PRO Mahavir Chandak, BJP party leaders, RSS functionaries and local people of the area were present on the occasion.

All total one hundred local people of the area benefited from the camp.
