PASIGHAT, Mar 7:  A joint convention of Pazing and Payang clan was held at Rasing Village of Siang District on March 1st - 3rdon various issues relating to Pazing and Payang clan. The convention was attended by President and Secretary of both Pazing and Payang clan along with their executives and hundreds of members.

Pazing Erang Kebang (PEK), President, Korunath Pazing in his Presidential speech spoke at length on the aims and objectives of the Pazing and Payang clan. While PEK, General Secretary, Omuk Pazing and Payang Erang General Secretary Arang Payang also spoke in details regarding unity, mutual help and understanding among the members.

 In the 3 day long convention, the origin and migration of Payang Clan presently residing at Payum and Kaying administrative centers of Siang District was discussed at length. After detail deliberation based on Historical facts and practical evidences, it was established that Payangs are Pazings who migrated from Rasing Village to Kaying and Payum area who has settled down there. The name ‘Payang’ is not the name of an ancestor or a clan but a name of a place in Rasing where the migrating group of Pazings now calls Payang stationed temporarily from which they have adopted the Payang name. In the convention it was passed that from now onwards Payang shall be call as Pazings, though it may take time for change of clan name from Payang to Pazing, informed, Er. Tamur Pazing, PEK Publicity Secretary in a press release.

Various welfare activities laying emphasis on promoting better Education, Economic upliftment, Health, Hygiene, Sanitation, Organic Cultivation, Heritage preservation, Environmental protection and preservation etc were also discussed and planned out during the convention. A unity stone pillar was also erected at Rasing on last day of the convention to immortalize the historic convention, added the release.
