ITANAGAR, Mar 9: Along with the rest of the state, ‘Daughters of God’, a newly founded group of Christian ladies observed its first ever International Women's Day at a city hotel in Naharlagun on Monday.
Its founder Evan Tai Miyer Angu highlighted the objectives behind the group’s formation. In tune with the day’s significance she spoke on women empowerment, extending help to orphan girls, widows and old-age women. Radiation Oncologist, TRIHMS Adisi Kri gave an awareness briefing on women-related cancers and urged the gathering to take proper care of their health and stick to an ideal diet to avoid the chances of cancer. Speaking on the occasion, Sister Bobby S Tayeng from Pasighat shared the words of the God from the Bible. To mark the day, beautiful group dances were also performed by Polo Park Women and youth groups.
The International Women’s Day was celebrated on Monday by the Cluster Level Federation Women Groups of Roing and Meka CD Blocks in Lower Dibang Valley district at Government Higher Secondary School auditorium in Bolung village in which of 64 Self Help Groups under 8 PLFs and 1 CLF participated.
Chief Patron, Adi Baane Kebang Women’s Wing (apex) Tinam Tayeng Lego was the Chief Guest and President, ABK Women’s Wing, Lower Dibang Valley unit Oseng Apum Yirang was the Guest of honour. Deputy Commissioner Kesang Ngurup Damo, District Mission Manager, Mongam Basar and officials from State Bank of India, Roing branch also participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion the DC urged the women to help the DA in making the district plastic free. The District Mission Manage emphasised on the need for unity of all SHGs for growth and sustenance.
On the occasion SBI Roing sanctioned loans of Rs. 1 lakh each to 8 SHGs. 
In West Kameng IWD was observed at the Bomdila auditorium organized by the Area Level Federation under the Department of Urban Development & Housing. Deputy Director, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Lian Moyee was the Chief Guest. Advocate Kamla Deewan as Guest of Honour spoke on Domestic Violence Act and legal procedures to protect women from exploitation.

Executive Engineer, Department of UD & H Takar Tachang also attended the celebrations.
The IWD was celebrated across Tirap district and the main event was held at Nehru Stadium, Khonsa organised by the Women’s Welfare Association in presence of ZPC Chathong Lowang, other PRI representatives and COl Amit Kumar Das from 6th Assam Rifles. Covid-19 frontline workers, nurses, lady constables and sanitation workers of the district were felicitated on the occasion.
Meanwhile, SBI Khonsa celebrated the day by sanctioning loans of Rs 1.07 lakhs each to the members of three SHGs. CO Longo Miss Ripi Doni graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Rajesh Sonowal, LDM, Ruzing Bellai, DPD NERCORMP and members of SHGs from Lapnan, Thinsa and Kaimai villages attended the event.
Women's Association of Deomali in collaboration with the Women's Cell of Wangcha Rajkumar Government College organized the IWD celebrations amid a huge gathering at the General Ground. The Women's Cell of WRGC conducted an awareness programme highlighting various women issues followed by cultural programmes. The women of Soha Circle also observed the day with enthusiasm. 
KVK Longding observed the IWD in Luaksim village under Kanubari Circle in Longding district with the theme ‘Women Leadership in Agriculture: Entrepreneurship, Equity and Empowerment’.
65 SHG members, KVK staff and panchayat representatives were among others who attended the event. I/c Head, KVK Longding Dr. A. Kirankumar Singh stressed on the need for strengthening the SHGs for economic empowerment of women and assured help from the KVK’s behalf as and when needed.
In East Kameng, a confederation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Primary Level Federations (PLFs) celebrated the IWD with the theme ‘Choose to Challenge’ which highlighted the prevalence of gender biases and misconceptions and the need for their removal in the interest of creating a more inclusive and gender-equal milieu.
In the programme which was held  at the Nyokum Lapang near Seppa,  Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla as Chief Guest appreciated the SHGs under Seppa and Bana Blocks for emerging as role model for the state in piloting the Nutritional Kitchen Garden and Cluster Farming schemes. Taking note of the severity of malnutrition in the district, he apprised all SHG members present to include the matter in Village Poverty Reduction Plans (VPRPs) and Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs). Concerned over the negative impact created by accumulation of garbage in and around the township, the DC requested the SHGs to work on solid and liquid waste management. “If required, I will also send a team of SHG members for exposure to best-practicing states like Pondicherry and Ambikapur,” he added.
The DC also stressed on rain water harvesting, self-employment, intensifying SHG bank linkages and credit linkages especially in State Bank of India branches. Later, he also assured to take up the three-point memorandum submitted by the consortium of PLFs to allocate retail outlets in the township for SHGs products, establishment of a Community Training Centre (CTC) for skill development and integration of VPRPs with GPDPs. Thousands of SHG members participated in the grand celebration which was organised by Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), East Kameng.
Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Jha, EKSWCO Chairman Bharat Sonam and Deputy Director, ICDS T. W Thungon along with other officials were present on the occasion. With DIPRO inputs
