ITANAGAR, Apr 1: The much-awaited 30-meter long culvert at Chainage 10.78.11.12 and 12.10 km at Jollang that connects Itanagar to Papunalah via Jollang has been restored and reopened for vehicular movement from Thursday.
Adviser to the Chief Minister and PWD, Phosum Khimhun inaugurated the culvert in presence of Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and IMC mayor Tame Phassang. The portion of the road collapsed due to landslides during the last monsoon in July 2020 and since then vehicular movement through the said road remained disrupted, forcing the commuters to take the long road via Chimpu to reach Naharlagun.
Attending the inaugural event, Khimhun appreciated the extra efforts given by the concerned department and contractors that restored the said portion of the road within the stipulated time frame. “The state government is determined to work for the public, right from National Highway to street lights and under the able leadership of the Chief Minister has taken the challenge to improve connectivity,” Khimhun said.
Appreciating the government for completing the restoration, Kaso and Phassang urged the denizens to follow traffic rules for making the ICR congestion-free.
