YINGKIONG, Jun 6: Introduction of new varieties of Paddy for increasing crop production was stressed by DC cum Chairman DFMSEC, NFSM, Remo Kamki in a meeting of the District Food Security Mission Executive Committee held here today here today.

Terming the Krishi Vigyan Kendra as the key institution to provide sufficient knowledge to farmers, he asked the dealing officers to create awareness among the farmers and PRI members.

Stressing on collective approach of officers, PRI members and farmers for successful implementation of scheme, the DC also asked the department concerned to create awareness on double cropping, crop rotation and replication of Paddy seeds for benefit of the farming community.

Earlier welcoming the members, DDA cum Member Secretary DFSMEC, AD Panggam, explained the aims & objective of the meeting.

M. Ete, ADO (Hq) read out details of components under NFSM and Block wise allocation of scheme. He apprised the members present that distribution of various inputs under NFSM have been completed in all circles.

Members present opined that the new high yielding varieties should be introduced for more production and categorically said that rampant use of PP chemicals and weedicides should be discouraged, as it deteriorates soil condition.
