NAMSAI, Jul 23: The much-awaited 2.70 MLD capacity water treatment plant (WTP) along the bank of Teang river near Marua bridge under Chongkham Block in Namsai district that aims to provide safe drinking water to 1285 households covering around 21695 citizens is on the verge of commissioning.
The uniqueness of the WTP in which water will be sourced from the river bed through Jack Well extraction methodology lies in its tourism-boosting features such as children’s park, cafeteria, open-air amphitheater, river-view jetty, sit-out canopy, intra plant walkway, water body with floral fountain and solar lighting. The eye-catching vista amid a scenic setting is expected to be a major point of attraction for the pilgrims and tourists thronging the holy site of Parasuram Kund. It needs mentioning that Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visited the under-construction project on November 9, 2020 when he was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Minister for PHED&WS Wangki Lowang, Lok Sabha MP (Arunachal East) Tapir Gao and MLAs Chau Zingnu Namchoom (Namsai), Karikro Kri (Tezu), Jummum Ete Deori (Likang) and Laisam Simai (Nampong).
One of the local inhabitants while extolling the project said that contamination-free water will end the recurring water-borne ailments in the area as well as help the local people in boosting their earnings through tourism-related undertakings.
