ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) in a release has appreciated the Arunachal Pradesh Police for intensifying the Inner Line Permit (ILP) checking across all entry points in the wake of publication of final draft of the National Register of Citizen (NRC) in Assam.
In the meantime, it appealed the State Government to instruct police personnel assigned to execute the job under Capital Complex to ensure that genuine businessman who have possessed valid ILP cards are not harassed in the name of ILP checking.
It also requested the State Government to allow only officials not below rank of a magistrate or police force to carry out ILP checking maintaining the existing rules and procedures. It also requested concerned authority to give prior intimation to the Association before conducting any raid.
Referring to a few past incidents in which a few organization members allegedly manhandled and harassed business houses on the pretext of ILP checking, it asked the concerned authority to ensure that such activities are not repeated in near future.
