PASIGHAT, Feb 25: A 3-day training on ‘Prospective Technologies for Climate-Resilient Agriculture’ under the National Innovation on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), inclusive of a day-long training-cum-input distribution under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) concluded today at Basar Circle in Lepa Rada district.
A total of 49 farmers participated in the programme which was inaugurated by DVO Dr H. Gogoi and DHO Y. Jini as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively in presence of Joint Director, ICAR, Basar Dr H. Kalita. The DHO deliberated on the issue of crop diversification for climate-resilient agriculture and the DVO spoke on crop-livestock integrated farming systems. On the first day of training Dr Kalita highlighted the importance of early identification and management of citrus stem borer by organic methods. Various Resource Persons covered the topics of prospective technologies for climate-resilient agriculture. The participating farmers were taken to a visit to the dairy, piggery, horticulture, agronomy, plant breeding, soil science, agroforestry and integrated farming system units at the Gori farm of ICAR Basar centre.
At the end of the training, the farmers were given certificates and demonstrations on cultivation of summer vegetables under the Tribal Sub-Plan project component. 2nd in Command, ITBP Saurav Dubey attended the valedictory function as Chief Guest.
