“A driver is responsible for the lives of the passengers in his bus; and while that may be limited to some 40 odd individuals, if something wrong were to happened, it would have a direct bearing on the family members of the driver himself and those of the passengers thus, taking the immediate affected numbers to some more than hundreds. As such, it must be bound upon the Driver, conductor and also the mechanics to work in absolute tandem with team spirit and utmost responsibilities,” Saaya elucidated.

Also, stressing on drunken driving as another cause of worry, Saaya also directed the Transport Commissioner and the General Manager along with their sub-ordinates to keep a constant check on the menace.

Further, expressing dismay over the conditions of the transport offices including the GM’s office, which he visited sometime around the past week, Saaya made an ardent appeal on his department staffs uphold the idea of Swach Bharat Abhiyan. Here, Saaya also instructed the Commissioner and the GM to put forward proposals for overhauling the office premises and also the tools required which he assured would be taken up at the highest level.

He however, went on to assert that the new policies and the new machines would have had lesser or no impact without the constant dedication and sincere efforts of its staffers.

Also joining in on appreciating the efforts of SS Dolum and his team along with the entire APSTS team were Transport Commissioner Bolum Siram and AAPSU president Hawa Bagang while speaking on the occasion as Guest of Honour and Special Guest, respectively.
