ITANAGAR, Apr 11: The Galo Welfare Society while condemning the vandalism during the recent Mopin festival at the capital's Mopin Solung ground has expressed concern over inaction by the District Administration and Capital Police in apprehending the culprits.
An emergency consultative meeting of the CEC members of GWS was held with all the Galo legislators, Chief Patron, Patrons, Chief Advisor & Advisors of GWS, representatives of GPF, GSU, GYO, MFCC Itanagar (MFCCI), MFCC Naharlagun (MFCCN), NMPPC, Mopin Preservation Society (MPS) & KAWA today at Naharlagun to discuss the matter.
The criminal act has disrespected the sanctity of  indigenous festival of Galo by act of trespassing, intimidation and vandalisation. This heinous crime of vandalism has hurt the sentiments, prestige and dignity of Galo community in particular and all indigenous tribes of Arunachal Pradesh in general, a press release said.
A non-bailable case has been registered against the perpetrators but it is unfortunate that the alleged accused persons are still roaming, the house said.
Shedding light over the incident, the GWS said it had received a representation from the accused seeking intervention regarding a fraud case related to a tender work,  but as it was between two individuals, it (GWS) has no jurisdiction over it.
GWS is a welfare society which primarily focuses on welfare activities like culture, heritage and human resource developments and act as watch dog for overall socio-economic development activities in Galo inhabited areas of the state and the nation, the release said.
The GWS henceforth will not entertain, involve and mediate in any individual disputes and the applications received earlier for mediation and settlement stands rejected without any comments and actions, it further added.
