ITANAGAR, May 16: Arunachal Pradesh reported three Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours adding to a grim week which saw a total of 21 covid deaths. The state is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases even as the worst-hit Itanagar Capital Region has imposed a strict lockdown till May 31st to break the chain of transmission. Districts such as Tawang and Lower Subansiri have also decided to impose lockdowns to contain the spread of the virus as cases continue to see an uptick even in remote areas.
On Sunday, 180 new cases were reported while 168 patients recovered. Out of the fresh cases of infections, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 51, followed by Lohit at 21 and Changlang at 20. At the same time ICC saw maximum number of recoveries at 53 followed by Lower Dibang Valley at 26 and Namsai 20. The state’s Covid casualty tally now stands at 81 and total active cases stood at 2260.
State Surveillance Officer, IDSP Dr L Jampa informed that the three fatalities were that of a 44-year-old woman of Chowkham, Namsai district who expired at DCH Pasighat; she was suffering from chronic hepatitis-B and had tested positive for Covid-19. A 33-year-old woman from Tawang expired near Sela due to acute respiratory distress syndrome while a 51-year-old woman of Rho village in Tawang died at her residence due to Covid pneumonia, The patient had been vaccinated with the first dose of vaccine in early April.
Occupancy status at the CCCs as of May 16 was- 52 Covid patients at DCH Chimpu, 37 at SQF Lekhi, 5 at DCHC Midpu, 5 at DCH Pasighat and 23 at DCHC.
