Seeks expediting of proposal for two extended RGU campuses pending with UGC

ITANAGAR, Sep 23: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) has requested for special assistance in maintaining the exotic flora and fauna in the state in a planned manner.  He also appealed for help in promoting forest areas and afforestation programmes to recover the green cover of Jhum cultivated areas.
Mishra said this when Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ashwini Kumar Choubey  called on him at Raj Bhavan today. The duo also discussed conservation of forest cover and national flagship programmes-Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and Antyodaya Anna Yojna.
Mishra informed that in the wake of COVID pandemic, the state government has efficiently implemented schemes under National Food Security Act and ensured that the needy people benefitted through Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and Antyodaya Anna Yojna. He requested the minister for enhancement in food grain allocation for Arunachal while sharing the challenges in the implementation process.
The Union Minister assured to take up the issues raised with concerned officials in the ministry and explore ways to expeditiously address the issues.
First Lady of the State Neelam Misra and wife of MoS, Neeta Choubey were present in the meeting.
Further, Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar also paid a courtesy call on the Governor wherein they discussed promotion of education and development of infrastructure in the state.
Informing that the state government has declared 2021 as ‘Year of Education’ and also has launched the ‘Mission Shiksha’, Mishra urged the Minister to render support in terms of the essential resources for the mission.
Mentioning about the proposals pending with the central departments for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas for Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor requested the Minister to address the issues and in sanctioning the proposals.
Stating that due to its vastness, Arunachal Pradesh requires two extended campuses of Rajiv Gandhi University, a proposal to this effect is lying with the University Grants Commission, he requested the Minister to facilitate in expediting the proposal, which he said will help the youth of the state in educational pursuits.
