ITANAGAR, Jul 26:Governor Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) paid tributes to the gallant Indian Army soldiers who fought in the Kargil war on the occasion of Kargil Day.
In his message, the Governor said “On proud occasion, I salute the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of our gallant Indian Army soldiers who from 5th May to 26th July 1999 valiantly fought at the high altitude, snow bound areas of Kargil mountains in Jammu and Kashmir to liberate the Indian territory from the Pakistan Army, who had perfidiously occupied the bunkers on the top of the mountains during the thinning out period of the Indian Army units. The vigour and valour of the Indian Army in the Kargil War has been unparalleled and whole nation stands beholden to the Kargil Heroes of the Indian Army”.
Stating that Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed to pay homage to those Kargil war heroes, who “gave their today for our tomorrow”, he said ‘On this day we stand in salute to those martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice and have secured for our Kargil brethren free existence and peaceful life,’
