ITANAGAR, Apr 20: Governor Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) today in a virtual interaction with the college principals and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the state here from the Raj Bhavan urged them to play the role of ‘force multipliers’ in the ongoing Covid 2.0 fightback.
Reach out to as many people as possible in creating awareness on COVID SOPs and vaccination, the Governor appealed and exhorted the Principals, Programme Officers, college students and NSS volunteers to assist those who on their own can’t go for vaccination such as illiterate and aged people. Reiterating that ‘micro containment zones’ are the vital components in the battle against Covid, he said it’s necessary even for a single positive case. He called upon the volunteers to assist the Health Department and the District Administrations in implementing the five-fold strategy of Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID-appropriate behaviour and Vaccination. Impressed by the good work done by the colleges and NSS volunteers during the first wave of the pandemic, the Governor said their positive, active and promotional attitude is the strongest shield against coronavirus. While emphasising on individual actions such as distribution of facemasks, counselling of affected persons and their families, spreading awareness on SOPs, he asserted that it will create a positive impact in fighting the pandemic.
Director, Higher & Technical Education, GoAP Dr Tayek Talom, State Liaison Officer, NSS Dr A.K. Mishra along with Principals and NSS Programme Officers and volunteers attended the videoconference. The participants assured the Governor they will generate awareness on the pandemic and follow his suggestions.
Issues such as COVID helpline numbers for districts, prioritising vaccination for NSS volunteers and commencement of online classes also came up during the discussion. PRO Raj Bhavan
