ITANAGAR, Jul 29: State Governor Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) called upon the parents and guardians to encourage their wards to take regular physical exercise and engage in outdoor activities.
He made this appeal while interacting with children at Raj Bhavan Children Park accompanied by First Lady Neelam Mishra.
He encouraged the children to play and take part in games and sports reminding them about the grand old saying, ‘Healthy mind in healthy body.’ He told the children to be physically fit along with studies.
The Governor ever since taking over as state governor has been taking keen interest in developing the two children parks and has provided more play units in the parks. The Governor and the First Lady of the State felicitated the children and distributed treats prepared in the Raj Bhavan.
While stating that for the children to excel in life and become better citizens, they must be mentally and physically fit, the Governor emphasized on the need for play grounds in various localities and also in the schools throughout the State.
The Governor said that in this electronic age, most of the children are busy in video games and television programmes. They may be brilliant in their studies but playing on ground in open air, in the lap of nature, has its own significance in shaping the body and mind, Mishra said urging parents and guardians to encourage children to take regular physical exercise and engage in outdoor activities.
