DCM reviews hydropower projects to strengthen state energy roadmap
ITANAGAR, Dec 1:The Union Home Secretary, Rajeev Gauba called on Governor BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan today during which the duo discussed the overall law and order situation in the State.
The Governor, who has special responsibility with respect to law and order in the state, took up with the Union Home Secretary the issues of counter insurgency operations in the state and police modernization. He emphasised that once these issues are addressed in correct perspective, peace and tranquillity will return to the three disturbed districts of Tirap, Longding and Changlang.
Reiterating his concern on human migration from remote border areas due to non availability of infrastructure and means of sustenance, the Governor suggested that as a pilot project, four to six villages be selected and made self sufficient by providing them with dwelling units, toilet facilities, health center, school, a few shops, ration support, water facilities, communication and emergency helipad.
Army and Para Military forces may extend them the labour / porter jobs on need to work basis, as is being done for many villages in border areas. Such schemes will go a long way in extending our border presence and possession. It would be a good confidence building measure and it will enhance the sensitive border security scheme, the Governor added.
