Lower Siang Issue
PASIGHAT, Jun15: The Committee of Group of Ministers constituted by the StateGovernment, to study and submit report in connection withfunctionalization of Lower Siang District, during its two-day visitbeginning June 14, attended public hearings at Kora community hall and ADC Office, Nari, which was conducted peacefully.
Speaking at Nari today during the proceedings for Nari and Seren Circles , Chairman GoM, and Cabinet Minister, Kamlung Mossang, said that the issues and opinions raised and apprised has
been noted. The Chairman also received the Questionnaire Forms submitted by the representatives of the villages present on theoccasion.
While Member GoM and Cabinet Minister, Bamang Felix also reiterated the objective of the field visits to assess ground realities andopinions and insights from the residents for the early operationalization of Lower Siang District. The Committee of GoM have been given the timeline of June 25 next for onward submission of its report to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to be placed before the State Cabinet, he further informed.
Member GoM and Cabinet Minister Dr. Mohesh Chai , also referring to the Re-Organisation of Districts (Amendment) Bill,20l3 passed by State Assembly and the need for early functionalization of Lower Siang also underlined the need for peaceful public hearing and transparency. He also stressed on equal representation for all and opportunity to place their views.
Member Secretary GoM and DC Capital, Prince Dhawan , informed that forms can be submitted at DC Office, Capital till June 19, so that left out persons can also avail the extended submission date.
Local MLA Kento Rina, senior members of the two Circles, Representatives of villages comprising of HGB/GB,PRI members present on the occasion and selected public members apprised their views andopinions.
Earlier on June 14 at Kora Community Hall, the public hearing was conducted for Koyu and Kora Circles. GoM Chairman also apprised the objective for conducting the proceedings for a fair and neutral study.
Representatives from villages present on the occasion also presented their views and opinions.
However, members of Nari Sub-Division belonging to the Adi community did not attend the public hearings at Kora and Nari.
DCs of East Siang and West Siang, Tamiyo Tatak and Gamli Padu, SP , East Siang and West Siang, Pranav Tayal and Mari Riba ,among others attended the meetings.
