ITANAGAR, May 14: In a marked deterioration of the Covid situation, Arunachal Pradesh on Friday saw five more deaths which took the state’s casualty tally to 77. In yet another matter of concern, out of 10 samples from the state processed by ICMR-RMRC Dibrugarh for genome sequencing, 6 have been found to be containing the deadly B.1.617.2 strain.
The fear that children too are susceptible to this new strain came true with a 6-year old male child from Chimpu admitted with shortness of breath dying today at the RKM Hospital isolation ward. Brought in a critical condition, his Thorax CT revealed it was a case of severe COVID Pneumonia. A 49-year old male Covid patient from Old Market, Tawang district suffering from Hypertension expired at DCHC, Tawang. A 65-year old male patient, referred from Roing expired on Thursday at AMCH, Dibrugarh. He had the comorbidities of Acute Kidney Injury and Dyselectrolytemia. A 52-year male from Basar, Lepa Rada district who was administered the 1st vaccine dose on May 2 last and referred from DH Roing after being diagnosed with Covid Pneumonia expired today at DCH Pasighat. Meanwhile, a 45-year old female from Lekhi village who was suffering from Covid Pneumonia and other comorbidities died today at DCH Chimpu.
Cases continued to rise at the same pace and 264 were added on the day taking the state’s Covid active count to 2202. ICR remained the number one hotspot in the state with 85 cases. 223 recoveries (ICR recorded the maximum with 65) , the recovery/discharge count has risen to 19094. As of Friday, 1965 individuals across the state were in home isolation. 2797 samples were also collected across the state on the day.
As far as occupancy status at the CCCs is concerned, there are 46 Covid patients at DCH Chimpu, 51 at SQF Lekhi, 9 at DCHC Midpu, 6 at DCH Pasighat and 25 at DCHC.
