ZIRO, Jul 27: One day awareness cum interaction programme on role and responsibilities of Gaon Buras and Gaon Buris was organized here today by the district administration. 

Addressing the GBs, Hage Tarung, EAC (JUD) dwelt at length on administrative and police power of the GBs in their respective jurisdiction. 
He asked GBs not to certify or recommend non-APST persons for obtaining Scheduled Tribe certificates; else the concerned GBs are to be held responsible.
Attending the programme as a resource person, Advocate Tanyang Tado explained the powers and functions of GBs based on the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945.

Later, All Apatani Gaon Bura Welfare Association assured district administration that they will not recommend the ST form to Non-APST who are applying for the same. They also appealed to district administration to refer a copy of such form to the Association for verification and taking necessary action against the violators.
