Gobuk, May 10: Member of Parliament (East) inaugurated war memorial “Migang  Miipang Mikmo” at Harkam view point, Gobuk village today.
Also present was Advisor to Chief Minister cum MLA Alo Libang, MLA Oni Panyang, Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang, Superintendent of Police Token Saring, ABK President Tadum Libang, along with members of the Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) and ABK Youth Wing (ABKYW), Heads of Departments, public leaders, Gaon Buras, and members of the general public  
The war memorial is dedicated to the warriors from Gobuk village who fought valiantly against the British during the 3rd Anglo Abor War in the year 1893-94 and symbolises the community’s enduring respect and remembrance of their sacrifices.
Addressing the gathering, Gao congratulated the people of Upper Siang for their commendable initiative, especially the Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), in tracing and recognizing unsung heroes of the region. He noted that this aligns with the larger vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to honour and preserve the legacies of unsung heroes across the nation.  
MP Gao urged the Mipang Migang Mikmo Committee to document the stories and historical backgrounds of these heroes through audiovisuals and written records, ensuring their legacies are preserved for future generations. He appreciated the efforts of ABK and encouraged them to continue working for the upliftment and welfare of the Adi community throughout Arunachal Pradesh.
In his address, he emphasized the need to create a peaceful and development-friendly environment for the betterment of future generations and the overall growth of the region. Highlighting the importance of healthcare, Gao called upon the people to enroll under government schemes like PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) and CMAAY (Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana) for access to free medical treatment. He also appealed to stakeholders to raise awareness and facilitate maximum enrollment under these schemes.
Speaking on education, the MP advised parents and guardians to remain vigilant about their children's academic progress. He warned that negligence could lead the youth astray into drugs and anti-social activities, potentially ruining their future.
Gao also stressed the importance of environmental conservation. Urging the public to avoid hunting wild animals and to protect forests, he underlined the link between deforestation and global warming, calling for collective responsibility in preserving nature and biodiversity.
Guest of Honour Alo Libang described the inauguration of Mipang Migang Mikmo as a historic moment for the people of Upper Siang, particularly the residents of Gobuk village. He praised the initiative and assured that efforts will be made to ensure the unsung heroes receive the recognition they deserve.
It is worth mentioning that the Migang Miipang Mikmo memorial is dedicated to warriors of Gobuk village stands as a tribute to the bravery and patriotism during Anglo Abor War 1893-94. It also serves as symbol of pride for future generations connecting the people of Arunachal Pradesh with their rich heritage and fostering a deeper understanding of the region’s historical significance in India’s struggle for independence. As per oral history passed by the ancestors that during the 3rd Anglo War of 1893-94, 7 (seven) warriors from Gobuk village: Late Matkam Tekseng, Lt Jantang Kombo, Lt Pikor Siboh, Lt Gongkar Miyu, Lt Kirpon Kirkom, Lt Tongyang Miyu and Lt Kakir Libang went to Bomjir to assist the Adi brethrens in fight against the Britishers advancement at Bongal Yapgo, Dambuk, Lower Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh.
As mark of gratitude, the Adi brethrens of Bomjir area gifted’Sisuk Rebung (horn)’ to Late Jantang Kombo, “ Ngiding (Spear)’ to Lt Pikor Siboh and a “ Benjak Rebung (Buffalo Horn)” to Late Kipom Kirkom, which is still available with descendants of the warriors. DIPRO
