ITANAGAR, Aug 22:The 'Tala Bandi Andolan' of all government establishments barring schools and hospitals launched by the locals of Likabali and Nari-Koyu Assembly constituencies under the aegis of Galo Students Union (GSU), Galo Youth Organisation (GYO) and the Galo Peoples Front (GPF) entered its second day today. The andolan has been launched after repeated failure of successive state governments to press for early functioning of Lower Siang District which was created and notified way back in 2014.

Almost all the government offices were closed in the two constituencies. Some were opened by the administration however attendance by public and officials remained thin.

The organizations have also resolved to start a signature campaign for resignation by PRI members of both areas, chakka jam movement

of government vehicles in all Galo inhabited areas in the first week of September next.

Moreover, the organizations have also urged all seven legislators from the community including MP, Arunachal West to come to the forefront and support their stand for early functioning of Lower Siang District.

The upcoming panchayat elections shall also be boycotted in both these areas if the state government continues its negligence towards the Galo community, it further threatened while asserting that the protest will continue till DC & SP are posted for Lower Siang.
