Depi, Oct 30: Villagers of Depi, Depi Moli & Detak under East Siang District conducted a media briefing expressing strong objection on the recent representation made by the Ramle Banggo Welfare Society (RBWS) to the State Election Commission regarding maintenance of status quo in the Panchayati Raj Jurisdiction of 36 Nari – Koyu Assembly Constituency.
Gram Chairpersons, community leaders and youth groups from the affected villages voiced their demand for transfer of Panchayati Raj Jurisdiction from Nari to Ruksin circle. The villagers have stated that they have been deprived from their basic rights of developments and schemes that benefit the villages, further claiming that the Society’s statement misrepresented ground realities and ignored the aspirations of local residents
Speaking on the matter, Tamok Taboh Gram Panchayat Member Depi Village, mentioned that they have submitted a representation to the State Government demanding Panchayat jurisdiction to be transferred from Nari to Ruksin.  He explained that they have faced lots of difficulties after District Reorganization Bill, which has been passed, as their administration falls under East Siang District but the Panchayat Raj Jurisdiction falls under Nari, creating lots of confusions for the innocent villagers.
Furthermore, demographically the Ruksin circle area is more accessible with better amenities, which includes medical facilities, education, transportation and livelihood, Taboh added.
Nyato Noshi, who hails from Detak, represented the meeting as Village Secretary, appealed to both the East Siang and Lower Siang district Administration and MLAs to take a fair and transparent approach in the ongoing delimitation and jurisdictional restructuring process to prevent misunderstanding and maintain harmony in the affected villages.
The press briefing concluded with a collective call for unity and transparency in addressing local governance and Panchayati Raj, raising significant concern for the affected people who are voicing out their demands before the upcoming elections, for smooth functioning and development of the area.
